Charities 2002 - 2003

A total of $47,000 was distributed among the following charities supported by the 2002- 2003 programs and projects of the Rotary Club of Clearwater. Each year these funds are raised through the club's primary fundraiser, the Annual Kingfish Tournament.

Youth Scholarships

  • Isaiah's Inn
    Isaiah's Inn, located in Clearwater, exists to meet the short-term needs for shelter, food and clothing of those less fortunate families who are motivated to become economically self-sufficient.
  • YWCA Hispanic Outreach Center
    The Hispanic community is the fastest growing population in Clearwater and in keeping with our mission "to achieve peace, justice, equality and dignity for all", the YWCA of Tampa Bay Hispanic Services provides "on-call" interpreters to assist Clearwater Police Department officers with their interactions with Spanish speaking residents; Spanish-language victim advocacy outreach services; English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes; and youth development programs, all from a central Clearwater Hispanic Outreach Center.

  • Suncoast Children's Dream Fund
    The Suncoast Children's Dream Fund, founded in 1981, is the oldest wish granting organization in Florida, serving children between the ages of 3-18 with life-threatening illnesses.

  • UPARC
    The Upper Pinellas Association for Retarded Citizens, Inc. (UPARC) exists to enhance the dignity and independence of persons who are developmentally disabled in the Upper Pinellas area. UPARC is dedicated to enabling individuals with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities to choose and realize their goals of where and how to live, learn, work, and play.
  • Homeless Emergency Project
    The Homeless Emergency Project's (HEP) mission is to provide homeless and low-income individuals and families with housing, food, clothing, and support services necessary to obtain self-sufficiency and improved quality of life. Located in Clearwater, HEP is dedicated year round, on a daily basis to "helping people help themselves."

  • Directions For Mental Health
    Directions for Mental Health is a private nonprofit community mental health organization incorporated in 1982, which evolved from clinics dating back to 1946. Our prevention, early intervention and treatment programs serve the mental health needs of children, families, adults and seniors from our main facility in Clearwater, second office in Largo, and outreach programs throughout upper Pinellas County in the Tampa Bay area of west central Florida.
